Quiet Waters Paddling Adventures http://www.quietwaterspaddling.com/.QWPA is one vendor that provides shuttle service for boat renters and rental boats. Neither the Sierra Club nor the LAMs will be involved in any rental arrangements beyond coordinating a meeting time and place for all trip participants. (QWPA requests that boat renters reserve a boat a couple weeks ahead. Contact QWPA directly for boat rental information and reservations). We'll all meet at the put-in at Algadones, paddle more or less together, and stop for a picnic lunch mid-way down the river. Bring a picnic item to share. Details on meeting time, what to bring, etc. will be sent to participants closer to the date.
Please sign up by May 16, and tell me if you have a boat or will rent a boat and if you are looking for a paddling partner. Mary Thompson mary14er@gmail.com.

Less-Traveled Trails

Caballo Peak Trail

Brian Johnson, longtime Sierra Club member and once a local backpack-outings leader, has launched a new venture, Less Traveled Trails, to initiate a new series of backpacking courses.

The venture, in conjunction with Santa Fe Community College, Ghost Ranch Conference Center and the U.S. Forest Service, will consist of classroom sessions and backpack trips that will be beneficial for both novice and experienced backpackers. Either learn for the first time about being self-sufficient on overnight trips or put into practice new techniques for ultra-light backpacking.
